Favre in the "Windy City"

Over a month ago I predicted David Cook to win American Idol and all signs point to my prediction being right on. So I'm going to make another prediction just to see if I have special powers! If this one comes true, then I'll be looking at ways to start my own 1-900 phone number to profit off my future telling skills. But until then let me tell you all the way I think Brett Favre's future will pan out.
I think Mike McCarthy (Packer's head coach) wanted Farve to retire. I think this rookie coach didn't want his successes to be credited to Brett Farve. And that's exactly what would happen in any success gained in Green Bay under the leadership of Farve. So I think there was tension in the organization. And I think Farve felt this tension, and "retired" as a result. But he still can play, and he knows he still can play. I think he could easily sign a 3 year deal for probably 8+ million a year. So for him to leave the game, would be him leaving 24+ million sitting on the table. That ain't ESPN analysis' money! I believe he'll entertain offers as soon as Spring training camps are over. And I believe one of the most likely teams to look him up would be the Chicago Bears. So there you have my prediction. I think Farve will take the field this year as a Chicago Bear! That's too good of a story not to pan out. And the NFL knows that would spark some interest, and the NFL is really no more that a glorified circus side show. The game is for our entertainment, and the players are our entertainers. I'm sure Farve knows this role well, and I believe he'll give us the best show he can. Now we just have to sit back and wait...
Wouldn't it be cool to see #4 on a black jersey?

Favre in the Windy City!! I don't think so!! Your thoughts on Favre and McCarthy certainly are interesting to read but that's not the way it's going to happen! Our Brett is a Green Bay Packer! There's no way that he would ever be a Chicago Bear, let alone, their quarterback! Or the quarterback for any other NFL team!! Can't happen! He'll entertain us in the realm of sports, no doubt, even as the quarterback for the Packers, if needed. That's my prediction of the future of our Brett!! I like giving my thoughts on your blog, Greg!

My post about Favre was 16 hours ago...and here's a news article from a Minnesota paper released 10 hours ago.

"*LeRoy Butler thinks Brett Favre might be wearing a Vikings uniform next season. Seriously. The strong safety who spent 11 years in Green Bay from 1990-2001 stated in radio and television interviews that he expects Favre to play next season, and that #4 may suit up for one of Green Bay’s NFC North rivals — the Vikes, Bears or Lions."

Now the Bears or the Lions might be cool, but the Vikings? That's like Billy Graham converting to Scientology!

Hey "Anonymous"...you write alot like my Mom! We posted our comments at the same time, so I didn't get to read yours before I wrote mine. I just finished reading Dad's e-mail to me explaining that I was out of the Will because of my opinion of Favre's future. And I figured since I'm on an island, I should start looking for some new family. Leroy Butler is apparently with me on this island. But it's not too late, y'all can jump the ship of "make believe" and join me and Leroy in the land of the big business that is Football! Brett knows this land well!
This is what's going to reveal the true Packer fans...the ones who (like me) are ready to yell "YOU AIN'T NOTHING BUT A RED-NECK" when Favre runs out onto Lambeau field as the "enemy"....Maybe he's the one Dad should take out of the Will!

You know Bob, he has that packing house harshness! I have the will and you're in it!!
Please, I can't believe Brett would do something like this!!! No, tell me it's not true! I am a Packer Backer! I love that boy, but it's got to be the team! I am right there in the thinking that it goes along with Billy Graham converting to scientology! Tell me it's not so! I'll survive! Really, I'll be ok. Yes, this is Mom!!

Dude, after we started our class message board I completely forgot about your blog here. So, today I remember and come back and ......

I have to read yet another Favre post. Geez, what is it with you Packer fans and Favre (sorry mom!). He is washed up, done with, wwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy past his prime. He needs to stay retired and go fishing - leave the game to those who can throw less interceptions. Don't be the next Joe Montana and stay around too long (as I said before).

Hey Bobby,
Thanks for checking in. In case there is any confusion, "Bobby" is in my Sunday School class, and "Bobbie" is my mom. Bobbie would never write anything bad about Brett, but Bobby, being a Cowboy's fan, might harbor some resentment towards Favre because of his successful 17 year career as the opposition. But us Packer fans welcome all people with a loving heart. Heck, we even let a Cowboy's fanatic into our family. So welcome to the discussion Bobby, but be careful with words like "interceptions" and "washed up". Brett will always be one of my Mom's favorite kids!...which I guess makes him my brother.

Ok, I have read all the FAVRE mania and being a Cowboys fan I have kept to myself on this one. But I feel the need to comment due to some insider info that I have recently received.
Greg, you may not be to far off in your prediction. i have spoken to an old friend who is friends with an agent that works with Brett's agent, and yes indeed Brett's agent has been in contact with the chicago bears.
Now to give my opinion on the issue at hand. Brett Favre is no doubt one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game. Why would he want to tarnish that image by going to a city that has an average "thats being nice" team. He has proven that the cold weather is a factor in his playing abilities and we all know Chicago in the winter is no picnic. The thought of seeing the #4 Favre in Chicago black, from a football fans point of view makes me cringe. Lets go thru a brief history of Chicago Bears #4. Steve Fuller "Super bowl Shuffle bring back any nightmares", Jim Harbaugh "getting somewhat better",Steve Walsh "run Forrest Run", Moses Moreno " for all of you who said "WHO" dont feel bad your not alone", and last and hopefully last Brad Maynard "great Punter" keyword PUNTER.
He went out on an overachieving Super Bowl contender as Division Champs and let's all pray he does not pull a Montana, Rice, Dorsett, Smith.

Good points Jim, but Favre is a "Legend"! And he's a legend because of what he has done, not because of what he has not done. He's a legend because he took the field often times when someone in their right mind wouldn't have taken the field (either hurt physically or emotionally). He's a legend because he'll throw a pass that only a fool would throw...and make a game saving play in the process. So yes, a return to Chicago could hurt his legacy. But if his career is any indication, only a conservative move on his part would ruin the Favre we've come to know and love. And what would be more conservative than him sitting at home with nothing to do!

You are correct he is a Legend. His on field accomplishments do and should speak for themselves. But wasnt it just a little painfull watching Montana rack up loss after loss in Kansas City and Dorsett in Denver just not be able to hit the hole and break away like he use to? I have all the respect in the world for Favre and his better days may well be not behind him. I just hope if it does happen it doesnt turn into Van Hagar

only a true child of the '80's will recognize that last reference!

...and just for the record, Sammy "rocked" far better than David!

Yo Dawg, G-Spot is BACK! (Sorry, forgive my gratuitous Randy reference.) Great story, great story-telling. You might just have a book in you, bro.

Well my good friend(David)just made this post rated PG-13. Let me try and explain. I've often wanted to be loved enough to have my own "nick name" within my close knit group of friends. I remember my Dad was given the title "Disco Bob" by his co-workers, and I always found that to be flattering. So I started pushing this desire of mine to have a "nick name" on my friends at work, ie. David. And to help out, I gave some "nick name" suggestions that seemed to align well with some of today's modern Rappers that have taken pop-culture by storm. So I started suggesting names like "G-Force" or "G-Money". And of all my self-appointed "nick names", guess which one stuck...Yep, "G-Spot"! So although I'm a liitle bit uncomfortable with this knowledge being leaked out, I trust the people who know me outside of the cabinet shop will continue to address me as just "Greg."...or maybe y'all can just call me "Master-G". Thanks in advance!
